The conversation has begun!

The conversation has begun!

It is hard to believe that we are already in June and that the retreat we have been talking about and preparing for over the last several months is now behind us! This past Saturday, June 13th, members of Groveville and Crosswicks gathered at St. Mark UMC to begin an important conversation about what the future of our ministries might look like over the next seven years.

Throughout nearly six hours together, we reflected on the present and future of our ministries, sharing ideas, hopes, concerns, and possibilities for the road ahead. Along the way, we also enjoyed times of prayer, singing, biblical reflection, and fellowship, reminding us that our work together is grounded both in plans and strategies, and also in our shared faith and commitment to Christ.

Many creative and inspiring ideas emerged from our conversations. Yet perhaps the most important part of this journey is what comes next. We now have the opportunity to discern whether we want to move forward, what we feel called to pursue, and how we might faithfully do so together.

There is much to think about, process, pray over, discuss, and continue discerning. The first step has been taken, and now the ball is in our court.

We know that not everyone was able to attend the retreat. If you would like to receive a printed copy of the plan that was presented, I would be happy to provide one. Simply schedule a time to meet with me. After we have had an opportunity to talk together, I will gladly share a copy so that we can continue the conversation in the days ahead.

Thanks to everyone who participated, shared ideas, asked questions, and contributed to the day. A special word of gratitude goes to those who helped with the logistics, food, hospitality, and preparation of the space. We are also deeply thankful to St. Mark UMC for graciously opening their doors and welcoming us for this important gathering.

As we continue this journey, may we remain open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, trusting that God is still at work among us and inviting us into the future with hope, courage, and imagination.

Warmly,

Rev. David Gaitan
